Early history

The origins of Case date to 1842, when Jerome Increase Case (born in 1819) created Racine Threshing Machine Works in Racine, Wisconsin. The company produced its first steam engine in 1876, which is now on display at the Smithsonian Institution.

In 1957 Case made the 320 Construction King backhoe loader. Since 1969 Case has manufactured skid steers, starting in Burlington, Iowa and later moving production to Wichita.
